The Weekly Chat is hosted by Commissioner Lorraine Cochran-Johnson a native of Greenville, Alabama and a twenty year resident of DeKalb County, Georgia. Lorraine attended Troy University where she received a B.S. Degree in Political Science and Criminal and a M.S. in The Administration of Criminal Justice. She holds a M.P.A. in Public Administration with a concentration in Economic Development and Grant Writing from Auburn University before attending Johnson Marshall Law School.

Lorraine has over two decades in print media, mass communications, and management and was the former General Manager of The Atlanta Daily World Newspaper – Atlanta’s oldest African American Newspaper, known for being the first to have a full-time White House Correspondent in 1940. A community activist and humanitarian, Lorraine was elected DeKalb County Super District 7 Commissioner in 2018 and has sought to raise the bar in communications and government service delivery through innovative ideas and enhanced engagement. She has been responsible for the allocation of millions of dollars towards transformative projects designed to enhance youth and quality of life and focuses heavily on economic development, financial dignity, and entrepreneurship as a way to level the playing filed among people of all hues.
